Once upon a time, there was a big turtle. it took him ten minutes to step forward with his right foreleg, another ten minutes to step forward with his left foreleg, and another ten minutes for each of his hind legs. Thus, it took him forty minutes to move just one single pace. One day this turtle wondered whether there was an end to the sandy beach and decided to explore the world. He looked to the furthest point of the beach and started to walk with all his strength.
The turtle reasoned that it took him forty minutes to advance one pace and decided to leave his footprints in the sand to avoid retracing his steps. Don’t you think he was wise?
However, one day, without completing his quest to reach the end of the coastline, he was entirely exhausted. He died believing that he had conquered at least half of the world.
The next day a fisherman came along, dragged the turtle to the other side of the island and ate him. Did it take the fisherman a long time to cross the island? No, it took him only ten minutes, given his fast past.
As a matter of fact, the poor turtle only walked around and around the sandy beach of the small island, without knowing that the waves of the Pacific Ocean were mercilessly erasing his footprints.
